When Ernest died in 1983, his sisters inherited the Marlenaz. While the building belonged to the family, the land beneath it still belonged to the commune of Bagnes. In June of 1985, the commune sold the underlying land to the family. It then changed hands when M. Gérard Meyer-Dumoulin then purchased it.
Jean-Pierre Orellier rented La Marlenaz from 1990 to 2000. That was when the current owners, Daniel and Frances Bruchez, bought it and expanded it from a buvette to its current size as a full restaurant.
Daniel and Frances also manage and run the Cabane Mt Fort a high altitude cabane belonging to the Swiss Alpine Club. They continue to run both mountain restaurants to this day.
